An expansion and a renovation are running side by side on one hospital campus, and the tonnage has to be reported separately for each. We keep the client's name off this page while the job is running.

The problem
Two projects share one dumpster
The expansion and the renovation are managed as two separate projects, but their waste is collected together.
What we did
We send every load where it can be measured
Commingled dumpsters go to a recycling facility that sorts the material, and we split the recycling and diversion numbers between the two projects at the percentages the project manager sets. If a load is 10 tons, one project might carry 40% of it and the other 60%.
The result
A report for each project, every quarter
Customized quarterly LEED reports for the expansion and the renovation, which save the project manager hours of administrative work. 30 of 31 tons have stayed out of the landfill so far.
